Where many stores offer great prices on pre-packaged meat, we prefer to offer fresh meat that is packaged in our own butcher shop.  This sometimes costs more, but you can see it is truly fresh.  The selection changes daily and new products are introduced regularly.

Butcher Shop Special Features

•  Although we purchase through Loblaws, we are very pleased to purchase from local farmers and agricultural businesses as much as possible.  Some of our local suppliers are: West Grey Premium Beef near Durham has quality beef;   Farm Fresh Poultry at Harriston has become the primary source for fresh chicken; Bauman’s Sausage from Dobbinton for smoked meats and sausages

Bruce and Grey County Beef

Whenever possible local Grey and Bruce County beef is sourced and used.   

Pork on Your Fork

Its great to get creative with pork and the various cuts.   Sweet pickled hams are very popular as are spiced pork roasts.   A very simple meal is breaded pork cutlets with mechanically tenderizes  cutlets with a breading on it.  It becomes a very simple meal by fast frying both sides and its ready in only a few minutes.

Ontario Pork

We belong to the Ontario Pork organization representing 1,549 pig farmers in Ontario.   The pork we purchase is all from Ontario and as such is labeled with an ‘Ontario Pork’ sticker.

Smoked pork is very popular and we purchase whole smoked loins from a local smoke house.    Smoked products now include hams, chops,  bacon, sausage in plain or garlic.   We also have hams sweet pickled.    

Bacon is wildly popular, especially on weekends and we are pleased to carry Maple Leaf bacon, President’s Choice and No Name bacon as well as our own thick sliced bacon and bacon rounds.

Ontario Chicken

We purchase most of our chicken from Farm Fresh Poultry, a chicken cooperative in Harriston, who purchase chickens from their 40 local member chicken producers.   The chickens come either whole or in parts and they are trayed or vacuum packed in our own butcher shop.
